Chelsea are prepared to spend a world-record £102 million for Matthijs de Ligt

Chelsea is allegedly prepared to pay a club-record £102.58 million for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt next summer.

Although the Blues have a surplus of centre-backs at the moment, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger's futures are in doubt.

Last week, Brazilian superstar Silva turned 37, while Rudiger has less than a year left on his contract and is considering other options.
Chelsea intends to address the problem by making a bid for De Ligt at the end of the 2021-22 season, according to AS.

Despite his uneven form during his time in Turin, the article indicates that the European champions are willing to spend €120 million (102.58 million) to ensure that Juventus sells one of their most valued assets.

The 22-year-old, who has a contract with the Italian giants until 2024, has made six appearances this season in all competitions.
