Chelsea target Juventus defender De Ligt

Chelsea are interested in Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt after learning that his contract has a buy-out clause.

The Daily Star reports that De Ligt has a "special release clause" in his contract at Juventus, which comes into effect in the summer of 2022.

The release clause will allow clubs to sign the Dutch international defender for 150m or 130m from the end of the current season.

The Italian giants won his signing two years ago from Ajax but could now lose him to European champions Chelsea.

Chelsea are showing an interest in De Ligt as they continue to search for a new centre-back, having missed out on the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla this summer.
